Hello everyone this is a second post of this coin because I first posted it in the Free discussion section but it belongs here. So can anyone get a date of this gothic Florin please?
Thanks,

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
My guess is 1858 as most of mdccclviii can be seen

Thanks for helping because the on a different post Radrick007 said that it ended with VIII so I knew it ended with an 18?8.

1858 mdccclviii
1868 mdccclxviii
1878 mdccclxxviii
One of those three.

Cannot work out the lettering size to see how many of those middle ones are missing.
As in is there no X or one X or two X in there?

I will try to take better photos tomorrow from certain angles because sometimes some of the missing letter just faintly show as for now we can carry on studying the photos to see if it is there.

I feel good about 1878. I don't know how to get the pictures on here from the internet search, but if you look up an image of each of 58. 68 and 78, the date on the 1878 starts higher up relative to the bust than the other two dates, and then I think it is clear yours is 78

Hi Tovarich
As I said I will try to take better photos of the coin tomorrow but I’m positive that the year ends in a 18?8.

No need, the M on your coin is clear enough to compare where it lines up to the back of Victoria's crown. The M on the 1858 and 1868 begin lower down relative to the crown than where yours does because yours needs space for more letters.

I'm impressed that you all could work out the date on this one. :wiz:
