I am cataloguing my Cape Verde coins and I have found on the Numista catalogue the series of the 100 pesos bimetallic coins.
Half of them have the outer ring in bronze and half in brass.
I am finding this fact quite strange, but I am not able to check if this info is correct.
Could anyone provide some sources?
Thanks to help to solve this curiosity

According to the website of the central bank

the rings are bronze not brass. This is confirmed by the mint sets shown here https://en.numista.com/forum/topic50094.html.
I only have one example and it does look more like brass than bronze. However, without an elemental composition, it's hard to be sure how best to categorize it. Can anyone find any source other than Numista and SCWC that states there are two varieties? There are different weights given on our pages but no indication of where they come from either.

The original question asked for sources. The ones I provided gave a single composition. Can you share with us your source for two different compositions?

I should have been more thorough.

Both exist in Numista catalogue, there is nothing for me to add there. All other sources I found by very briefly searching have it the same way.

I just closed the ticket for coin modification. I cannot really leave open ticket for everything I find curious or weird about any coin. This thread would best go into numismatic questions section.

I understand. Perhaps the way to get something done here would be to request the merger of the three pairs based on the information from the central bank website?

There is one more piece of evidence: The parent page on the mint web site that only has one link for 100 Escudos for each series.

(And the pages are available in English by changing /pt/ to /en/.)

I have been curious about the 1994 100 Escudo coins for a while.

The Flower series coin page in Numista has a Schön reference and says those coins were produced in 1996. N#6541

Schön also has more details on the coins: The 1994 versions are listed as Bro / K-N while the 1996/2001 produced issues are listed as Al6-N2-Bro / K-N (with the digits as subscripts). The bird and flower coins are listed as produced in 1996 and the ship coin is listed as produced in 2001.

I looked in old Krause:

The 1996 (23rd edition) doesn't list any 1994 coins from Cape Verde.

The 2001 (28th edition) lists two types of the 100 Escudo coins for all three series.

Does anyone have a Krause between those dates? I tried https://openlibrary.org/ and [Illegal link deleted] and some web searches and failed to find one. It would support Schön if the ship coin didn't appear before the 28th edition but the others appear.

The 27th edition is also missing the 100 (and 50) escudos, with only the bird series 5, 10 and 20. I'm not sure how much we can read into that but it does suggest the source for the two types in Schön.
