Going through the Hamburg Dreiling, Sechsling and Schilling between 1807 and 1840 has thrown up some interesting issues that I'd like to put forward. In short, it looks like KM has made a bit of a hash of categorizing these coins. Currently we have (following KM):
Dreiling: KM#522, 1807-1809 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces58673.html)
KM#543, 1823-1839 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces86674.html)
Sechsling: KM#525, 1807-1839 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces84851.html)
KM#550, 1832 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces23440.html)
Schilling: KM#542, 1817-1819 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces160385.html)
KM#546, 1823-1840 (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces74600.html)
Within these entries, we have two subtypes for KM#525: 1807-1817 (small castle, KM#525.1) and 1823-1839 (large castle, KM#525.2), and for KM#546: 1823-1832 (dots on reverse, KM#546.1) and 1837-1840 (rosettes on reverse, KM#546.2). However, this misses out several differences which should be at least noted if not lead to a rearrangement of our listings.
For the Dreiling, the 1839 date has rosettes on the obverse rather than the dots on the other dates of KM#543. For the Sechsling, the 1823-1836 dates of KM#525.2 appear to be the same type as KM#550, whilst the 1839 date (also KM#525.2) has rosettes on the obverse rather than dots. Given that the change in the size of the castle and the replacement of dots with rosettes warrants a new type for some denominations, can I propose a new categorization of these three denominations?
