Help Identifying Ancient coins + medallion?

8 αναρτήσεις • προβλήθηκε 208 φορές
I dug up some more old coins and some type of medallion? Maybe someone can tell me what it is?
The coins are pretty damaged since they've been in the dirt I cleaned them up as good as I could under water without putting to much pressure on them hopefully the details are clear enough.

When I dug it up I first thought it was a decorative piece for some furniture or something similar as well but then I saw that it was the same on both sides which made me think it could be some type of a medallion or similar. Would be very interesting to find out what it is hopefully someone knows.
The first coin is from the Chola dynasty of southern India and Sri Lanka. It looks to me like it's from Queen Lilavati, AD 1197-1200. Second photo should be rotated 180 degrees.

This is an example of the "octopus man" style of coin, often misattributed to Rajaraja Chola (AD 985-1014)

Thank you so much I wasn't sure which way it was supposed to go thanks for letting me know! The place I'm digging seems to have been some form of a gathering site for trading since there's coins from all over the world. The time periods from when the coins are from differ a lot though so maybe I'm wrong. It's very interesting non the less and I'm so glad I can be part of this community and for all the help everyone provides! I wouldn't have been able to identify all these coins I'm finding without this fantastic community so many thanks again!
