Paper money is my passion. I focus primarily on world banknotes, collecting from countries and all eras, with a strong appreciation for older and historic issues. I also collect U.S. paper money, and paper exonumia.

Condition matters to me. I actively try to build my collection in Extremely Fine condition or better, with a strong preference for uncirculated notes whenever possible. Like many collectors, I make exceptions for rare or difficult-to-obtain banknotes. In general, I do not collect banknotes with tears, stains, or writing.

At the moment, I do not collect coins. PLEASE DO NOT REQUESTS COINS IN A SWAP. Any coins on my swaplist belong to my children and they are not interested in swapping at the moment.

I share the hobby with my kids — even if their enthusiasm comes and goes. At the moment (2026) they are not engaged.

I am always open to swapping banknotes with collectors worldwide. I like to approach swaps with open communication and flexibility, with the goal of making every exchange a win-win situation for both sides.

Also, all the notes on my swaplist are available for sale. If anything catches your eye, feel free to make me an offer. I’m happy to work with you to find a solution that makes sense — often at a better price than buying online, without dealer markups.

My current priorities are:
- French and French colonial banknotes
- Iranian banknotes
- Commonwealth banknotes
- Pre-1980s african banknotes
- Mexican banknotes

Any values shown on my swaplist are indicative only. I generally reference current market prices in the United States when assessing value. I often do not rely on Numista prices, as they can vary widely — sometimes they align with market values, but often they do not. The same is frequently true for catalog prices.

When balancing swaps, I focus on the total value of the exchange, rather than matching individual note values one-for-one. As long as the overall swap feels fair and balanced, I’m flexible and open to discussion. Because of this, I am more than happy to adjust my swap values, as long as we are using a similar approach to evaluate your notes and both feel comfortable with the outcome.

I always provide clear front and back pictures of the banknotes involved in a swap and ask that you do the same. While not every note in my collection has images uploaded, I will always provide pictures before finalizing a swap. Good images are essential for accurately assessing condition and avoiding misunderstandings.

For newer collectors, if you have fewer than 10 completed swaps, I respectfully ask that you send first. The same applies if there is negative feedback. Once the notes are received, I will promptly send mine.

For small swaps, I ship using regular mail, without registration or tracking, both within the U.S. and internationally.

For larger swaps, I always use tracked shipping. Because tracked international shipping is very expensive, it needs to be a sizable swap to make sense for both sides.

	Αξιολόγηση για τον/την HAROLD MAYNE-NICHOLLS στις 17 Δεκ 2024 I recently completed a banknote swap with Harold. Our initial discussions were productive, and we both agreed to send our selection of banknotes in UNC condition for the swap. Harold was clear on his preference for UNC notes only, and declined when I offered banknotes in AU condition. I sent my package first, and Harold promptly sent his after receiving mine. Upon receiving his package, some of the banknotes were indeed UNC, but a few were AU, and at least one in XF. The notes are still in very good condition, but do not match the UNC standard. I brought this to Harold's attention, and he was apologetic and willing to correct the issue by offering to send replacement notes. Overall, Harold was communicative and responsive, and I appreciate his efforts to resolve the issue. Απάντηση από τον/την HAROLD MAYNE-NICHOLLS στις 25 Ιαν 2025 Just a short comment. After he comply, I offer Gian the following: send me the banknotes you did not like, and I will change them for UNC. He refused to do so ... instead he offered me to send him a high value banknote from Perú (100 soles ... face value USD 27.-) but I did not agree and insisted on my original idea. Send the banknotes back, and I will change them and send UNC. He preferred not to do so, and finished the "negotiations" ... I felt very sorry but I did my best to satisfy his requirements. What else can I do?
