This 1996 BU Set of coins was minted by The Royal Mint in Llantrisant and issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. The set was packaged in a blister type folding coincard and was inserted in a slipcase.
The set contains six standard definitive coins, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1 & $2.
The NCLT $5 coin is celebrating the Kaka Bird which is a native New Zealand Bush Parrot. They are perfectly adapted to living and feeding entirely in the forest. They are fast flyers and have a powerful beak and a very varied diet. They eat insects and their larvae as well as many kinds of nectar, seeds, and succulent forest fruit. The Kaka feeds in noisy flocks, mainly in early morning and late evening.
