The Philatelic and Numismatic Office of San Marino issues a collector’s set featuring both commemorative €2 coins in proof version.
The first commemorative coin is dedicated to Giotto, considered one of the greatest Italian painters, initiator of a new style in Italian figurative art and a model for Renaissance artists. Among his most famous works are the frescoes in the Basilica of Assisi depicting the Stories of Saint Francis, the Santa Maria Novella Cross in Florence, the frescoes of the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, and those in the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence.
The second commemorative coin is dedicated to sustainable tourism. The concept of sustainable tourism refers to a way of traveling that respects the planet, does not alter the natural, social, or artistic environment, and does not hinder the development of other social and economic activities.
