Rainer Kretz, “The Bronze Coinage of Tasciovanos”, BNJ 85, 2015:
Kretz Type A (Celtic Head). The style of the head was used for uninscribed North Thames coinage and Trinovantian and Catuvellaunian rulers thereafter. The hair was transformed into a double row of curls and a beard was added, not common on Roman issues, although by the time Andoco and Dias used the motif it became increasingly Romanised. Kretz lists four coins in Type A, listed separately here. This coin is A4:
A1: Head with corded hair left. Horse with ringed pellet on shoulder left (ABC 2541).
A2: Conjoined bearded heads; TASC (ABC 2655).
A3: Bearded head left, hair swept upwards; CAMLV in front. Goat left (see ABC 2670).
A4 (half unit): Bearded head left, hair swept back in two rows; VER(L) in front. Long-horned goat right (this coin).
Kretz suggests there are at least a dozen issues attributed to Tasciovanos (ABC 2583, 2604, 2625, 2631, 2658, 2667, 2673, 2679, 2682, 2685, 2694, 2700, 2709) which either have a VER/VIR legend or no legend at all. The majority are likely to be Tasciovanos, but there is a good chance some are not.
