STARÁ ĽUBOVŇA - Historical military camp under Ľubovňa Castle has been a reality since Saturday! Almost 80 knights from Poland, Hungary and Slovakia moved to 18 statutes and a wooden captain's house for 2 days to show the visitors to Stará Ľubovňa a genuine life in a medieval fortress.
The camp started to be built half a year ago (2006). Its dominant feature is a wooden cabin, the so-called Captain's House. Around it is a pen and 12 large and 6 small tents. These will be available until winter to those who want to try the life of the knights in the Middle Ages for at least a few days. “We designed the camp to commemorate the lives of people in Spiš in the 15th to 16th centuries. The capacity is 82 beds in 6- and 2-seater tents, ”said project author and camp captain Pavol Mišenko (36). The wooden log house also serves as a medieval inn. It offers meals and drinks that were consumed 500 years ago. “At that time, various porridge was cooked. Drinking water, mead or wine. Herbs, such as sage and oregano, were used in large numbers, ”said Renáta Zubčeková, a cook from the Middle Ages (20). To make the picture of the Middle Ages perfect, you can learn to sword, shoot from a bow or crossbow, or learn to ride a horse. Everything is paid with a special currency, Ľubovniansky gold, worth 10 crowns and you can get it directly in the exchange office
